Mexico
Grupo Modelo
Grupo Modelo, founded in 1925, is the leader in the production
and marketing of beer in Mexico with more than 57% domestic
and export share. It has eight brewing plants in the country,
with a total installed capacity of 39.5 million hectolitres.
Currently it brews and distributes ten brands: Corona the
number one Mexican beer sold in the world, Modelo Especial,
Pacifico, Negra Modelo and other regional brands. |
Moctezuma And Cuauthemoc
In 1544 the King of Spain granted a concession to the Spanish
conquistador Alonsa De Herrera, to build the first brewery
in the New World. From this time, the Mexican breweries
have reflected the best of European traditions and technology.
The first major brewery was Cerveceria Cuauthemoc and was
followed in 1856 by the Moctezuma brewery in Orizaba Veracruz.
Cuauthemoc and Moctezuma (Sol and Dos Equis) joined forces
in 1985 to become one of the top ranked breweries in the
world. |
